Week@WOU: Capturing Western's Campus

CURATOR STATEMENT

The exhibit concept came from “the day in the life” projects which document a country or place in a specific time frame. We decided to focus on one week at Western Oregon University and requested photo submissions of places, people, events and activities taken during January 21-27, 2013. Selected images were printed for display in Hamersly Library; our intent was to capture perceptions of campus in images, not to present professional photographic works.

The exhibit is not intended to represent a comprehensive view of the campus, activities or people. The photographs do not show all parts of the campus, but we were pleased at the variety and creative views submitted. We were seeking a different way of looking at campus, perhaps seeing something we normally walk by without looking at or to seeing an event in a different way. Next time you are walking about campus, maybe you will see something that has always been there but that you did not notice before.
