Abstract

Este ensayo busca responder a la pregunta “¿Es posible tener naciones dentro de otras naciones?” mirando la experiencia y cultura chicana dentro de los EEUU. El análisis se basa en las definiciones de una nación descritos por Ernest Renan en su ensayo “What is a Nation?” y Benedict Anderson en “Imagined Communities: Reflections on the Origin and Spread of Nationalism”. El hipótesis es que hay comunidades dentro de naciones que contienen varios aspectos de lo que constituye una nación, pero no pueden ser naciones completamente realizadas, o, por lo menos, no hoy en día.
