Description
In this letter, Peter Butler describes to his son John Butler the general health of family, the birth of a son to Thomas Hutchinson and Elizabeth Hutchinson ("Lissie"), friends loss in a different wagon party, and the conditions of his party on the Oregon Trail including the drowning of a mare and mule, the loss of a wagon, and the favorable conditions in the new country.
