Abstract

In this presentation I look into the background of Al Gore, highlighting how his past experiences affected his capabilities as an effective rhetor on environmental issues. Furthermore, l analyze his Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech, considering his identification with his audience, his use of facts and statistics, and his use of narrative and metaphor to effectively persuade his audience. These elements of audience analysis, sound reasoning, and style contribute to Gore’s rhetorical persona and account for his success as a rhetor.
