Abstract

What does homelessness look like in the small Monmouth-Independence community? Using in depth interviews in the Monmouth-Independence community (Polk County, Oregon), I worked to create an inclusive description of homelessness in a small community. Various community members were interviewed over a six month period. Findings include youth fleeing toxic homes, migrant families in transition, and victims of domestic violence. The visible homeless comprise a sector of the homeless population and reside along the Willamette River.
