Abstract

Reflecting on our experiences working with the DeafBlind community who were attending a DeafBlind retreat in Seabeck, WA, we review our six months of training that included; practicing guiding, giving environmental information, and using Tactile American Sign Language (TASL). With this knowledge that we accumulated over the course of two terms, a group of eleven students went to the retreat to apply these skills to the DeafBlind community. We will discuss our personal experiences, as well as those within our group. We will expand on the unique features of the DeafBlind community and their language.
