Abstract

This research predicts people would look more attractive if presented in a group versus being viewed individually. In this between subject design of forty participants, there were 30 females and 10 males (M=24, SD=2.3). Participants were randomly assigned to rate a specific person’s attractiveness based on a photograph. They may be pictured alone or with a group of people. The scale used in this study was a five level Likert Scale. The person photographed was rated more attractive when they were photographed with a group of people. The results suggest that a person is perceived more attractive in groups.
