Abstract

The branches of mathematics are many and far reaching. This paper will focus on the geometry of compass and straightedge constructions of the ancient Greeks. The lessons in this project are designed to show that intriguing geometry can be integrated into high school curriculum. They cover specific standards from the Common Core, while also taking students on an interactive journey of discovery. This journey starts with basic constructions and each lesson builds on the others until the final lesson uses everything to explore the famous Angle Trisection Problem of the ancient Greeks.
