Abstract

This study explores and analyzes The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and its effectiveness in assisting veterans with a successful transition back into society upon completion of their military service. Results from open-ended interviews conducted with 13 veterans and one former VA Chief of Staff show that the VA has done little to alleviate the stresses of reintegration, such as unemployment, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other problems. My study supports the argument that the VA has failed to assist many veterans in their struggle to reintegrate.
