Abstract

Quotatives, the verbs we use to introduce direct quotations, come in many different types. The quotatives we use in our daily language is influenced by social factors such as social status. However, many people use a variety of quotatives to express different implications of factuality. The research conducted for this presentation was done via Labov’s rapid and anonymous survey method.
