Abstract

I will present my internship with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), specifically, the public outreach events I participated in regarding the ongoing planning effort for a new resource management plan for Western Oregon’s BLM managed lands. These events focused on educating the public to encourage public buy-in of the new plan. This is a new and unique approach to how the BLM approaches planning. The presentation will involve discussion about the voluntary public engagement events the agency has done in conjunction with required public notice and comment aspects of governmental policy changes.
