Abstract

Within the context of a course on Human Rights, a short public service announcement (PSA) was created to educate/advocate for action against an ongoing abuse that violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This PSA video project addresses the practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). FGM specifically violates more than one of the Universal Rights including, "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." By demonstrating current awareness of this practice, the goal is to educate and to encourage public support against it.
