Abstract

The basic tenets of Carl Rogers’s Person Centered Counseling Theory, including congruence, unconditional positive regard, and accurate empathetic understanding, constitute basic interpersonal communication skills that, when utilized, have a strong influence on human interactions. This presentation shows how the tenets of Person Centered Theory can be applied beyond a counseling session using examples including teacher-student relationships, effective business sales techniques, and human-to-human interactions.
